Lecture Theatre Recording at UQ
Large lecture theatres (those with a capacity above 100 students) across UQ's three main campuses are fitted with the Echo 360 Lecture Theatre Recording System to empower more flexible modes of teaching and learning. A full list of equipped venues is available here.
With Lecture Theatre Recording, students can access lecture recordings over the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at their own convenience. Recordings include audio and the screen content presented at the lecture.
To use this service in equipped venues, presenters simply pre-book the lecture session dates and times to be recorded. Recordings start automatically and will continue until the nominated finish time unless paused or terminated by the presenter. Recordings are then automatically processed and linked to an associated BlackBoard course site for replay by students in a variety of media formats.
For Students
Recordings of lectures typically appear on your course’s Blackboard site the day following the recording. By default links to recordings will appear in the course’s Learning Resources content area under Lecture Recordings, but your course coordinator does have the option to organise this content differently.
You may select an option to stream or download the entire recording, or download the accompanying audio. If streaming, the inbuilt EchoPlayer will allow configuration for dial-in or broadband connections.
You should be aware that there is an expectation that students attend lectures, tutorials and seminars for all classes in which they are enrolled. In cases where lecturers do provide recordings of lectures and other teaching materials on-line, this is intended to supplement rather than substitute for regular class attendance.
