Software Requirements

Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is required for collaboration tools such has Chat and Virtual Classroom. If you are using a Windows system you will also need to download and install the Java Runtime Environment (NB this is not required for Macintosh OSX computers).

A list of software that maybe required to use Blackboard which can be downloaded from UQconnect downloads page

Look for the applications with the Blackboard icon

Is Java installed and working correctly on your computer?
If the 'Java Plug In' is working correctly it should display a 'Clock' to the left hand side.

If your web browser detects that a page contains Java, it should also display the Java icon in the system tray at the bottom right hand corner of the screen- as displayed to the right.

If the Clock does not display, you may not have the 'Java Plug In' installed or the version you have is too old. To find out what version you have please see below.
