1)Click the [Start] button.
2)Select the 'Settings' menu.
3)Select the 'Control Panel'.

4)In the Control Panel, click the [Network] icon to open the network configuration.

5)Click to highlight the 'TCP/IP -> Ethernet Adapter'. The exact name shown on your computer will vary depending on what type of network card you have installed.

Do NOT confuse this with the 'TCP/IP -> Dialup Adapter'.
6)Once the adapter is highlighted, click the [Properties] button to display the TCP/IP Properties of this Ethernet adapter.

7)Click on the 'IP Address' tab as shown.
8)Select the option 'Obtain an IP address automatically' by placing a dot in it.
9)Click the [OK] button to continue.

10)Click the [Yes] button to restart your computer.
After the re-start your computer is configured for DHCP. When connected to a network it will request and receive a server assigned IP address automatically.
