The University of Queensland's telephony network consists of approximately 11,500 fixed lines, including 350 cordless phones, 550 fax machines and an integrated cellular wireless solution of 120 phones. A centralised switchboard operator service is supplied at St Lucia. The University of Queensland views its telephony solution as mission critical infrastructure underpinning the university's core business activities of teaching and research. In addition to general telephony, other services provided include Voicemail (5,800 users), Call Centre Technologies (40 agents), Switchboard Operations, University mobile services (870 users), reconciliation of telephone users' accounts against the University's carrier bill, Consultation, Engineering Design and Project Management.
